JL Audio 10W6v3 ported down fire enclosure for a single 10-inch driver: 1.22 cu ft net, tuned to 35.5 Hz, 20.3 sq in of port, F3 29.8 Hz.
The 35.5 Hz tuning is where this box is loudest per watt. Protect the subwoofer with a subsonic filter set 5 to 10 Hz below that number, because the port stops controlling the cone under tuning.
20.3 square inches of port area keeps port noise down when the system is pushed.
Down-firing keeps the cone protected and leaves a flat top you can load.
Listed construction: 3/4-inch MDF, with a doubled 1.5-inch front baffle, dado and V-groove panel joints, polyfill installed, terminal cup.
